We need a new "story"

This analysis shows us that the present neoliberal "story", and the mindset behind it, cracks when meeting the totality of the present global challenges. Values, rules of the game, processes, and mechanisms simply are inadequate when more than production, consumption, and "making money" must be seriously considered. We badly need better approaches, with foundation walls taking nature and basic human needs for everybody properly into account.

But is it possible and worthwhile looking for such approaches? All other approaches than the neoliberal model have so far failed. Is the only option to close our eyes, and continue the struggle for global hegemony, and unlimited freedom of consumption for those already at the top?

We, living in the rich part of the world still have the choice between trying to start a controlled process heading for a better world for everybody, or end up with ever increasing inequality and injustice, before the crisis of climate and nature hits us all in the end. The poor part of the world has less choice.

The new "story"
 

• Humans are an integrated part of cosmos/nature

• All humans are equals

• Humans share a common responsibility

• Humans need social relations and communities built on trust not overruling the basic individual intrinsic value

• Governance is democratic

• You have your personal freedom as long as you are a responsible fellow human and a responsible inhabitant of the world

• Diversity is valuable both in nature and society
